Local project data, My Books, and backups
This build stores book projects in the customer’s browser subject to the app’s In Progress and Finished project limits. Project settings and the My Books index are stored locally, while generated image and cover assets are stored in browser storage on the customer’s device. The browser storage meter is an estimate and actual device/browser quotas vary. Project Backup creates a single editable archive that can include project data and locally stored generated assets. A backup saved on the customer’s computer is outside the in-app project limits. Clearing browser data, changing devices, or using a different browser/origin can remove or hide locally stored projects, so customers should keep backups of important work.
Account information
ColorBook Builder account signup may collect an email address and a customer-chosen username. The username is used as the display name inside the software. The customer email is used for authentication, confirmation, and account recovery and is not intended to be displayed as a book title or dashboard project name.
API keys
When secure account storage is configured, an OpenAI API key entered by a signed-in customer is encrypted server-side and associated with that customer’s ColorBook Builder account. The raw key is not returned to the browser after setup and is not included in project backup files. This lets the API connection follow the customer’s sign-in to another device. Test builds without account storage configured may temporarily use browser session storage instead.
AI requests
When the customer uses AI features, the relevant prompts are sent to the AI provider selected by the software using the customer’s connected API account. The AI provider’s own privacy and data policies apply to those requests.
Reader Bonus QR Page
If the customer enables the optional Reader Bonus QR Page, the destination URL and short message are stored with the local book project. The software does not host the destination page, collect reader names or email addresses, or send email. Any website, form, download, email provider, or data collection used at the QR destination is controlled by the customer and is subject to that provider's privacy terms.
KDP publishing helper
The optional KDP publishing helper runs on Amazon KDP pages in the customer’s browser. It uses the publishing-package file and PDFs selected by the customer to help fill fields and file inputs. It does not ask for or store the customer’s Amazon password.
Third-party sites
Amazon KDP, OpenAI, browsers, checkout providers, and hosting providers operate under their own privacy policies and terms.
